Calabash Tobacco

Hi All. I'm considering picking up a Calabash. Are there any tobaccos that are better suited for this type of pipe?

I would say no. Calabashes are, essentially meerschaum bowls set in a calabash gourd. And I think any tobacco works well in meerschaum.

Just make sure you stick to one type of tobacco. The gourd tends to ghost easily. So keep it a VA, Va/Per, or English blend pipe. I wouldn't use it for an aromatic. They do smoke wonderfully though, I have two.

Uber and Roth are correct! I own two Calabash pipes. One is for VaPers the other for Virginia Flakes. Stick to similar tobaccos in a Calabash.
