I have a calabash with a block meerschaum bowl that I've been smoking occasionally for over 40 years. Two things I learned about them. 1. They do smoke quite cool and nice. 2. They burn tobacco very fast.

CPW seems to be the only place to buy new gourd calabash pipes but they are very expensive.
My only gourd calabash was couple of times smoked estate pipe for 70 dollars and the new pipes are almost 500 dollars.
