Cake On My Tamper ?

I use a metal tamper.I keep getting a build up on it.It's not really cake,but about once a week I have to scrape it off.Is this unique to my tamper,or do others have this problem? Any suggestions on how prevent this?

I just wipe it off on my pants. Or someone else's pants, if given the opportunity.

Baron, use some common sense. Wipe it on your socks rather than your pants. More people look at your pants than your socks.

I was just noticing this on my tampers the other day. I am waiting to see how thick it will get.

I wipe it off on my car tires. I figure the cake will preserve the rubber.

Guess I never noticed. I wipe my tamper off everytime I use it. I like to keep mine clean.

Assuming your tamper to be stainless steel, then this justs sounds like a simple case of carbon deposition and physisorption.

I just rub my thumb over it after every time I tamp and do not get any build up.
