New Small Batch Oriental Blend. May be available elsewhere but I know I saw it, and bought it, at Watch City. Good opportunity to grab a few ounces of some of Watch Cities House Blends to try. I personally smoke quite a bit of Simply Red, Rhythm & Blues, Watch City Slices, Deluxe Crumble Cut, Persian Slipper and Old Dominion.

I have been working on depth lately in the cellar more than adding new blends but I definitely want to put in a big sample order at watch city in the future. So many great looking blends.

Whats in it?
Edit: A blend of fine red and bright Virginias balanced by Basma leaf from 2014 and Izmir Orientals from 2013, Sun Bear commends itself with subtle notes of South Carolina garden-grown honey from the personal beehives of Jeremy Reeves, head blender of Cornell & Diehl.
The natural honey complements the subtle drizzling of silver tequila and Elderflower for a natural, refined tasting tobacco with an underlying, swashbuckling boldness. Sun Bear is a unique experience for the connoisseur who appreciates a dance of flavor components dominated by quality Virginias.
They lost me at tequila. Is that really necessary? It sounded great until the honey, tequila and elderflower came into the picture.

Thank you for your information! I do my TAD once a month ... generally first week of the month. I have done both my July and August TADs. August was early because of two reasons (1. 10 years Aged Virginia 2. I will be traveling internationally for a long vacation... 2nd week till end of Aug). if still available in September, I will research and may buy it!

The tequila and honey additions don't turn me away from this blend nearly as much as it might have in the past. The tobacco's involved sound like something I would like but I may have to show some restraint and wait for a few reviews to come through before I pick up a tin of this. I like the exploratory theme with the C&D small batch series so hopefully this stuff doesn't sell out too quickly and maybe I can pick up a tin after I see what others who have tasted it think.

Saw the post on FB.
Looks to be an interesting blend. I love the tin art.
I'll probably pick up 3 tins like I did with the last small batch.
I'm surprised that Watch City has it before SP does. Supposed to be released on 08/06, which happens to be my wifes birthday..... I mean... I cant celebrate too right?

I agree with bluegrassbrian. The tequila put it on the back burner for me. I have not been terribly enamoured with whiskey and rum soaked blends so, tequila does not sound that appealing. I am not saying that I won’t eventually buy a tin but, I don’t think it will be generally in my wheelhouse.

I’ve finally started cellaring in earnest for the first time, I went ahead and snagged 5 tins of Sun Bear! Pretty dang excited about it. I might just throw it in the bottom of a drawer and “forget” (i.e. think about it every waking hour of my life) for about a year and then crack one. Sounds like an awesome blend. I didn’t want to read great reviews and be SOL a few weeks down the road. I’m hoping my gamble pays off and this blend is as exceptional as it sounds.

Yes. I smoked 2 bowls. One fold and stuff, the other rubbed out. Rough around the edges, even a bit harsh. Needs aging. The flavors though are very good. I think this will be a superb tobacco in a couple of years. I bought 10 tins, ordered 5 more (max allowable) at Smokingpipes last night. If you like Virginia Oriental, I'd recommend getting some while you can.

SP is already sold out when I looked early this afternoon! Hope everybody who wanted some got it. I was toying with the idea of buying 5 more... but I guess not.
