I’ve been sitting on some 2 year old jarred Pegasus. Tried it for the first time.

Not bad at all. I’ve always heard rave reviews. Is it strange I prefer Carter Hall and MacBaren Golden extra though?

Maybe I’m just partial to a lighter smoke. To each his own. Gonna try some BLWB next.

I only recently discovered MB Golden Extra, and am sad that I only got a pound before the supply dried up. Such a tasty blend.

Pegasus, however, was not to my taste on my first or second smoke of it last summer. I have to see if I squirreled away the jar at the back of the cellar, or if I traded it all off in the meantime, to see if my palate and the tobacco have come to a mutual understanding.

Yeah. I’m sad I was only able to lay my hands on two tins of Golden Extra at a semi reasonable price. Now, wherever I look they want about $80 CAD for 50g.
80$ for a 50g of Golden Extra?????!!!!
Didn’t know it came in 50g first of all…….

2nd, where are you seeing golden extra for 50g at 80$?

Unfortunately both Carter Hall and the Prince are not really widely available up here. The sources for ordering from the U.S. for a reasonable price have dried up.

In an article titled "Pipe-Smoking Friends -- Famous and Infamous" by K. Maxwell Graves Jr. in the Summer 2002 issue of Pipes and Tobaccos magazine, the author, a pipe-smoker, describes a chance meeting in Oxford, Mississippi with William Faulkner, another pipe-smoker. During the course of their conversation about pipes and tobaccos Mr. Faulkner recommends giving any new blend a minimum two-week trial. Mr. Graves notes that, interestingly, his uncle, also a pipe-smoker, had previously given him that same advice.

So do I to you: Instead of bouncing around from blend-to-blend, try smoking Pegasus exclusively for two weeks and see if it doesn't grow from "not bad at all" to earning a permanent place in your rotation. If it doesn't, then send it to me.

Will do. It’s definitely smokeable though. I will work my way through it. For $60-$80 bucks for 50g, it won’t be wasted 😂.

I quite like Pegasus. Doesn’t need aging, burns great. I get solid and consistent toasty, woodsy vibe from it. I tend to smoke it in my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipes (bigger bowls as suggested) or a larger cob. In any event I pack it ridiculously loose and almost don’t even draw on it. Clench and breathe, and the flavor really comes through.

yeah it's darn good stuff. It's going next to the Yorktown for me. They both always just are good no matter what.

Just tried Lane BLWB today. Not bad for a really mild smoke. Not as nice as Carter Hall or Golden Extra, but I’d definitely smoke it on a hot day or while doing yard work etc.
It’s a great no-thought smoke. I mixed a pound of BLWB with a half pound of 1Q, and it has been a real treat to dip back into that every so often. On its own it is very plain, but it has its sweet spot.
