I didn't care for it. Smoked two bowls and left me thinking about that old song "Is that all there is"? I jarred it up and maybe with a little age I'll like it better. For now though, not impressed.
Fired up a bowl just for this thread. I too was taken a back a bit by bookshelf 6 years ago. bought 2oz last month to try it again. Fired it up in a peterson 03. Strange how it reminds me of Semois. So many tobaccos are easier now that I have some experience under my belt. I think what I like most about burley forward blens is the amount of smoke you get from them. Almost like tactile feedback. Good smoke.
I have some of this on the way. After discovering how much I like OJK fairly recently, I decided it was high time to try HB.
Funny how tastes change. The first couple of times I tried Perique (which was several years ago) I didn't seem to care for it much. Now suddenly I seem to love it.
Perique can cover a lot of ground in regards to flavor.
One application can be gentle figs and another can be a nose hair charring pepper blast.
Don't judge one form of perique on the experience of another form. You will miss out.
