Let me preface this review with the statement that I in no way feel qualified to give an expert, much less an average review of tobacco as I am still developing my palette, but here goes nothing:
The tin lists it as a blend of red, bright and stoved Virginia's with a dash of perique and toasted cavendish. This was my first go with this blend and I think my first to with a blend with perique. The tin note is what I would consider a spicy chocolate with a nutty background. I'm assuming the chocolate is from the toasted cavendish, the spicyness is the perique, and the nutty is the combination of them all. It is pleasant, and not overwhelming. It's a mixture of light, and medium browns and black ribbon cut tobaccos and smoke ready right out of the tin. Packs very well and I smoked it in a straight country club billiard. I used two charring lights as that seems to be my routine as of late and then a nice true light. I feel with two charring lights, it makes the true light more smooth and helps keep the tobacco cooler on initial light and full draw. Maybe this is all in my head but it works for me. The smoke stayed cool throughout the first half of the bowl (I stopped after half, will re-light after lunch) but the bowl did get warm. Not really anymore warm than any other VA's I smoke though. Burns dry with no gurgling through how much I smoked (probably 20-25 mins). The room note I'm stuck on. All I can come up with is 'toasty', not like the bread but just reminds me of a toasted marshmallow or something similar. I would say its mild on the nicotine as I smoked on a slightly empty stomach of a cup of coffe and almonds. I LOVE almonds during a smoke. I sometimes will smoke a new blend on an empty stomach to get a feel for the N of that blend. No queasiness or upset stomach but I do tend to have a higher tolerance for lady N. all around a good smoke. Wouldn't consider an all day smoke but is good. Will jar half of this tin and smoke the other half. I still have an unopened tin in the cellar.
According to the tin it started out as a blend for a fund-raiser for families of 9/11 victims (makes me like C&D even more because of this) and was re-released by C&D. I will add another tin to my next order just in case they decide to stop blending it again. As with anything YMMV, but I believe it's a very good blend.

I haven't tried this one yet, but I've been meaning to. I always seem to pass it up in favor of Tuskegee Airman or U.S.S. Mason. Your review has definitely moved it up into my top 5 list of "must try soon" blends!
