C&D Engine #382 vs C&D Crooner

I want to give Deer Tongue a try. From the descriptions and reviews I am leaning to #382 as it is not as strong as Crooner. Both are available in bulk so I should probably try an ounce of each.

For those who have tried both blends, do you have a preference and why? Or do you hate both?

Thanks, I missed that one. I excluded Gentlemen Caller because I didn't want to pay the premium for a 2 oz tin, just in case I hate Deer Tongue.

Always good to have a practical reason not to try a tobacco.

I prefer crooner because I’m a fan of straight burley and because the burley creates a nice clean “space” to display the deertongue. If you really want to know what deer tongue is like, crooner will give you a pretty clear idea

Crooner and Engine are great. I like Deertounge and Burley.

Deertounge is like an herbal licorice or anise flavor.

I liked crooner...I can't remember if I even tried the other one. Crooner lets you experience the deer tongue I think.

My experience with both is that Crooner is considerably stronger, due to C&D’s stout cube cut burley. I like them both, but I think that Crooner is a little bit better, even though I find C&D’s CC burley to be a bit on the harsh side. I get around that by cutting it with a little bit of Peretti BPC. I don’t know for sure, but I also think that Engine 382 has some other toppings added.

I've got over 40 pounds of Engine 382 jarred up if that says anything.

I’ve got some 382 to try out on the way, primarily because of the VA, unsweetened cav, and perique.

I’ve tried Engine 382 and Gentleman Caller and promptly gifted those.

I’ve not sampled New Market.

But Crooner is my kind of blend. The flavor from an herb and from tobacco.
