I bought 2 tins, one to age and the other to smoke as soon as it's ready... So how long should I leave it to breathe in the jar before smoking it? I am not as experienced with VaPers. I know I could smoke it occasionally to find out myself but I wanted to ask you fine people and waste less bowls of tobacco.

I don't use a set of specific times. It's a brand new blend. Just try it, and if it needs more time, wait before trying it again. It's really that easy.
YMMV, but any time I'm trying a new blend, I just pop a tin and smoke some. I usually let it dry out a bit first. I have found that I prefer many, if not most, blends after the tin has been opened for a couple weeks, but there's no way to know that the first time trying a new blend.
I smoke a bowl fresh when I open a tin just because I can't help myself. Ounce in the jar I let it sit for 6 to 8 weeks before introducing it to the rotation.
Pipe it. Smoke it. Mar it. Leave it. Come back in a few months. Wash rinse repeat.

The reason I asked this question was because I smoked some of last year's CRF and it was underwhelming, but of course after a few months in the jar it got really tasty.
I was anticipating that situation this time, but I did go ahead and light up a bowl this evening and I was blown away. I mean, wow... I wish I bought more!

I have consistently found most blends, and C&D blends in particular, benefit from breathing for a couple of weeks after popping the tin. Doesn't mean the fresh bowl isn't good. There's around 30 bowls in the tin, quit torturing yourself and smoke one.
Well there you go. Bet it will even be better in a week or two but now you have a reference point and a sated curiosity. Win Win.
Yeah I was just taken aback by how not good those first several bowls of the regular CRF were last year. I kept smoking it wishing it was good... I mean, I knew that you had to let it breathe and everything, I just thought it would at least be decent out of the tin. I was on a Va kick at the time too so I know it wasn't my palate. of course after awhile it got tasty, it just primed me to want to try to wait this time.
Glad I didn't though, because this new batch, plus the perique, is night and day from last year. I can't imagine what it will be like in 2 months. I plan on letting my 2nd tin age for 10 years. In fact I should probably buy more before it's gone... I just gotta stop spending so much goddamn money on tobacco, tax increase or not.
Omg is it... tax increase or not. I have an alter ego that's telling me I need more pipes now too, like I need another English pipe, when I rarely smoke Englishes. I wish my cryptocurrency would hurry the hell up and take off so I can just give in to the Beast.
