I haven't heard a lot about Black Frigate; I hope I didn't miss someone else's review. This is a Latakia, Turkish and dark Cavendish soaked in rum, so is an aromatic, although it may appeal equally to non-aro smokers. It is full strength and has robust taste and a definite nicotine component. It may not be quite Lat enough for Lat bomb lovers, but you won't miss the Latakia twang. It's crumble cake, so you might find it useful to rub it out thoroughly and/or dry it for a day to get it going well, and you still may need a re-light or two, but once going, it is steady. This is definitely a full-strength blend, but not harsh or bitey to me. It incorporates Cavendish in a skillful way as a flavoring tobacco in a way often overlooked by blenders, and the Cav gives nice volume to the smoke. Most won't find this a categorical blend for their rotation, but as a change of pace, on the strong side, it's pleasant and distinctive. If you like big flavor, you will probably enjoy Black Frigate. Thank you to a Forums member who sent me the sample. Definitely my style.
