Perhaps the opposite, where Bayou Morning Flake is the result of pressing the regular Bayou Morning into cakes and allowing heat and pressure to meld the ingredients together? Perhaps there is some literature somewhere in which Jeremy Reeves explains this?

Jumping on an old topic here but they never tasted like the same blend to me. I get much more bright VA in bayou morning and much more red VA in the flake. Not even sure there is any bright leaf in the flake. The flake is also stronger and tastes like it has more perique in it.

I think it is the same recipe, the pressure and heat changes the flavor dramatically. I think you could age some Bayou Morning for a few years and come up with a similar taste as new flake. Just my opinion of course.
