Did we really need a thread created for this? It's like me creating a thread to state I had a bad experience shopping at Walmart and am not going to shop there anymore. Or email Pipes and Cigars and explain your frustration at least.

I am a fan of P&C. They really seem to be customer focused and there are some great deals to be had from time to time. Never had a problem with the Web Site, either. Try using Chrome with adbock and see if your experience changes.

I think it's interesting that so many folks have offered solutions and advice when we have no idea what problems the OP was having with the site.
I will say that their Web site is overly complicated to me. You can bypass much of the "fluff" if you want, but it is really not user-friendly. It feels like it was created by someone who has never shopped for tobacco. I mean, if you know you want a McClelland tobacco, you also have to know what "line" it's in. Why not just an alphabetical list of all the McClelland blends?
FWIW, I'm on an iMac. And I've visited the site with both the Safari and Chrome browsers. I didn't run across anything that seemed uniquely troublesome for Mac users -- just a general overall clutteredness and quirkiness. I'd love to know what specific issues the OP was having with the site.

I found the website very informative, maybe a little difficult to navigate sometimes, but I'm definitely never ordering from them.
They don't ship internationally.

I have a tool distributor that uses the exact same layout, so I can figure out the navigation. And, since I don't care how pretty an abrasive or drill bit is, I don't need to see a picture of it. So the layout works fine for some businesses. But, for something like a pipe, where seeing it is important (especially if bowl size and weight is not available) using a pop up that some of us have our security set to prevent, is pointless. I shouldn't have to go into the internal mumbo jumbo of this magical device full of spells and wizardry to reconfigure anything to be able to see a freakin' pipe. Especially when there are other places that offer a better shopping experience for pipes, without me having to alter this system of mystical incantations that make this cosmic box of interwebs work.
That said, I am a devoted buyer of tobaccos from these fine people. They've just happened to miss the point on a few issues that some of us web users deem necessary. Yes, it is kind of unnecessary to make a thread about this, but since the majority of us on this forum buy online, it could also be that P&C may be interested in our opinions. Make lemonade when we can

I have ordered from them a few times and have always gotten a 5star service both with the shipping time and with the communication (emails), but I agree the new site needs a better layout.

Just enter "McClelland" into the search window, then select "Sort by Name A-Z". You still get 10 pages of results, but they're all McClelland, all in alphabetical order.
FWIW, I work in IT and I've used some seriously bad software - P&C's interface isn't entirely intuitive, but they do have most of the tools I need to find what I want.

Some of these "NEVER AGAIN P&C, BY JOVE" threads are getting a little silly. Yeah, I think the new website is convoluted, but really its more of an annoyance than a hindrance. It may take three more steps or another 20 seconds than it should otherwise....it probably won't kill you. The lack of detail on pipes is annoying, but it has been voiced ad nauseum. Its apparent P&C won't or can't change it to add detail we want. If they don't have the detail you want to make you comfortable, you can buy at smokingpipes.com. If its too good a deal to pass up, take your chance.

I don't like the new layout they have, because its not as easy to navigate as it used to be but that doesn't keep me from ordering from them. What keeps me from ordering from them is that they won't ship to me. I even changed my shipping address to my brothers address who lives in Oregon, which they'll ship to, but since my billing address is listed as Washington it still pops up that that they can't ship to me. That's annoying! I've got several vendors that will ship to me with all the same tobacco options so I'm not worried about it. I'm happy with the vendors that ship to me.

I agree the new website is a bit difficult. P&C have been excellent with my orders and any difficulties have always been quickly resolved. I recommend them unreservedly.

Let the guy vent. For some folks this is the only place they can talk about the hobby with people that understand their frustration. If you don't like it, don't comment on it.

We are listening, and some format changes will be happening on the website, but it will have to take place a bit at a time. We'll be breaking items into groups that should make navigation easier. We will also have a mobile format available later on this year to make it easier for the smartphone and tablet shoppers. I try to make myself available to help anyone who's having a problem with our site or company. I can be reached by calling the 800 number, just ask for ext. 254, or write me at russo@pipesandcigars.com.

I really like P&C as a company quite a bit. What few ordering issues I've had, they've always been quick to address and Russ's commitment to quality and service is second to none. No question I'll remain a customer for years to come.
That being said, I'm still not a fan of the new site. With all due respect, I am glad they addressed a lot of the ordering and inventory issues and it has worked for me just fine adding to cart and checking out. But when it comes to being able to easily shop and browse various pipes and tobaccos, there are other sites that I feel provide a better experience. I won't deny I'm a "window shopper" when it comes to pipes and enjoy stopping in from time to time and clicking through and thinking about what kind of pipe I might pick up next. That experience just isn't there for me with the new site.

I only wish to repeat the request for dimensions on pipes. Length, I.D. and depth would be sufficient.
Have you tried clicking on the magnifying glass alongside the individual pipe? It will cause a window to open which will have everything on file about the pipe. All new pipes being added should have Length, I.D., O.D, Bowl Height, Bowl Depth and Pipe Weight listed. Pipes that were in inventory prior to the new website will take time to measure and post, as we have over 30,000 pipes in stock.

Can't get any more customer oriented than that in my book! Well done Russ
