I can't believe you guys, smooth Shells DO exist. I should know as I have one. Beautiful pipe. Huge. Excellent condition with clear stamps, if it wasn't for the fill that popped out you would swear that it was made yesterday instead of 1937.

This has been an excellent read. Thanks, guys. Forgive me for starting a new thread on the subject...I ought to have pointed out that the particular danger of this listing was that there were no clear images of the Dunhill, so it would have been easy to just trust the seller and bid away. I didn't want anyone to go for it until the authenticity of the pipe had been verified. As an update, the lot is back up for sale, but the seller has changed it to include a "dumbhill copy." Quite a funny and appropriate typo there!

It is another reason why you want to know who is selling the pipe. If it is some guy you never heard of just walk away. Deal only with known reputable vendors of pipes.
