I have a Dunhill, It's a 4407 Prince from 2001. It's a fine pipe but it's not miraculous. I have had roughly 60-90 briars and It has made the cut down to 14.
But I would never pay the price of a new one. I have Aldens and Castellos and Beckers and a BST and Tinskys that are as good or a hair better for a GREAT deal less $.
As far as the White Spot thing goes, Marty Pulvers has a great rant about that. I'd link it, but I am a techno tool. You are gonna have to google it yourself and find it.
But yes, Dunhill is basically out of the pipe bizz and I have no Idea who carved mine or who is carving them now. I suspect they are squeezing they last few bucks out of a legendary marque.

At last count I had 103 Dunhills, and have sold dozens. They are close to being the best pipes available, but not quite. I love them because they are consistent. If I get a certain shape size and finish, I know what the taste will be. The best tasting finishes, in order are root, amber root, chestnut, bruyere, county, ruby bark, shell and Cumberland. The cumberlands are really awful, the shell a little bitter, the others are good.

I have had many Dunhills in the past. MOstly 5108's and regret selling them. Now I am desiring having a 6102 in either Amber Root, Bruyere, Chestnut, or Cumberland. As a lover of British pipes I really need to add one back to my collection.

Has anyone else heard anything about Dunhill no longer having their name stamped on the new White Spot pipes that have taken over the pipes formerly known as Dunhill?

I do know that they have been just called "White Spots" for a few years now, but Dunhill refusing to put their name on them is new. I'm just looking for confirmation.

Brand new pipes fresh from the Chacom, err China, err London ...who-knows-where-but-they-are-really-worth-800usd-factory are stamped as Jack mentioned. Here's one from the latest SMP update. I'm not sure there is a fresher source, state side for up to date dunghils.

I will get to meet a Dunhill Distributor at The Briary's event this weekend. I guess we will get the lowdown on the most current pipes. It could be that I just misunderstood, having only heard one side of the convo.
Let us know what you hear. Thx

To me the difference between a Dunhill and a top quality Savinelli or Peterson is about the same as the difference between a Bentley or Rolls and a Cadillac.

My 2013 is stamped The White Spot with Alfred Dunhills arched above/below that line.

They all seem to either have "Alfred Dunhills" or the elongated lower case "duhill" stamp in a oval.

Site sponsor Al Pascia usually has excellent prices on new Dunhills, nee the White Spot pipes. The exchange rate has been favorable, even with the tax bill that comes later. And,you'll have the pipe in less than 48 hours.
