I have a fifteen year old or so Supermate with excellent briar and stummel construction, the stem however doesn't do three pipe justice. It isn't a crappy stem, but it is noticeably of poorer quality than the wood. I also have a pair of 70s era Simoun line pipes that are nice, solid, midrange pipes.
I would buy another without hesitation if I was in the market.

The top bulldog is a Butz choquin. It's a great pipe I picked up for $50 new.

I own four BCs and while the two I got in the 1980s smoke better than the two I got in the 1990s, all four are good smokers,
