Well, I guess, I am yet to learn that special shielding technique. The lever with the cap quite often seems to come in the way of my thumb, so that ,more often than not, by the time I form a shield the striker wheel needs to be rolled again.
Bics are more resilient to wind for two reasons. One, they use more fuel and two, the nozzle is shrouded by a windshield rather than completely exposed.
