Well, I’ve been trying my best to downsize my cellar since moving into my new house and not having nearly as large a man cave as I had, but…… I’ve been seeing all these “What Are You Smoking” posts with people smoking C&D Small Batch From Beyond and I got curious.
So off to SP I go and looked at the blend. Well, it’s right up my alley! Especially for the cooler weather. So, I bought a few tins…..
gonna have to find some room I guess…… Damn…..

Easy pass for me, it's just another Latakia blend.
Well, Virginia, Latakia, Perique, Orientals and Burley is about as good a combo as it gets in my book. Don’t get me wrong, I like straight Virginia, VaPers, heavy Lats, Burley, codger blends, and even the occasional light aro, but that particular combination really hits the spot for me.

I have generally heard of these blends being called "American" blends as opposed to English, Balkan, or Scottish which are the more traditional lat blends.

For me, American blends tend to try to do too much. I tried some of the OG from beyond and felt it was way too light on the lat for it to really do anything for me. I do tend to prefer those traditional blends like balkans or english, and scottish depending on the blend (like Dunhill aperitif).

Is this one any different from the OG?

You made a good choice.
It's a great blend. I had some 23 last night and they are different but that's not bad. This years has some nice vintage leaf in it. Pretty neat concept.

I'm not a huge Latakia fan and like Embers, find it a bit overpowering. I do like the Turkish Lat in 2023 though. I probably won't open the 2025 until next year, and I'm hopeful I'll like it as much. Decided to get it because the Cyprian is 20 years old, figured I'd be able to handle it.
