2014 seems to be my year for experimentation.
First - Starting an American Classics collection

Second - Buying a Savinelli Tortuga 315

Third - Shopping at Dutyfreedepot.com for Amphora Red Tobacco
After my cousin reminded me that her grampa smoked Amphora tobacco, my interest was peaked. Then I found out that it's not imported to America anymore. So, I started to do research and ended up at the Dutyfreedepot. Just placed my order (5 for $40.99 with free shipping). It should be here in 10-12 days.
I was really interested in the Amphora Green, but that seemed impossible to find, BUT my daughter will be traveling to Brussels in May, so maybe I can sweet talk her into buying her dad some of the demon weed.
Is there anything out there that's close to the Amphora blends?

Plateau I have at least 3 unopened pouches that I don't really care for, would you be interested in a trade? If you are shoot me a pm and we can figure something out.

Actually I have 3 sealed pouches and a pouch of original and a pouch of mellow with only one bowl out of each. I also have a pouch of Troost (yellow package) that is very similar.

Plateauguy: MacBaren Halberg Green is like a smoother smoking, more intensely flavored Amphora Red. Smoking Pipes has it for $15.21. They say 3 and a half ounces are in the package, but when I weighed mine, it was 4 ounces. I like AR alright, but I much prefer Amphora Brown and wish I had some. I didn't like the Green much at all. Here's the review I wrote at TR. I wasn't very charitable, but your mileage may vary on it:
I'd rather give this one and half stars only because I reserve one star reviews for atrocities like Middletons' Cherry or their Apple blends, which are little more than floor sweepings cased in bland sweeteners. This blend at least was made with a decent quality of tobacco, but that about all I can say about it. It really doesn't deserve a two star rating, but again, I have to distinguish it from the truly awful stuff. I hardly taste the Hazelnut and the rum must have evaporated before the pouch was sealed. It has the very slightest hint of cocoa. Nuts and beans? Uhhh.... I think not. It is kind of sweet, as it should be, but it's incredibly unremarkable. Dull. Dull, dull, dull. Dull.

Amphora is readily available here in Nova Scotia and I love the stuff. The original brown pouch is a great lightly sweetened burley/cavendish that is so easy to smoke and a tad on the strong side. Amphora full aroma in the red pouch is a very very well done aromatic. Does not smoke like an aromatic at all but still smells wonderful.

Thanks to br - I've just cancelled my order to Dutyfree.
Good thing, my wife was definately NOT HAPPY about using an e-check to China. She's calling the bank this am, and I believe I might have to clean the bathroom to get in her good graces again.
