Do any of the "old Timers" out there remember an English blends smelling like burning leaves?

It may have been a mix of Latakia and Burley, or Virginia. I was talking to my dad over a pipe recently and we were reminiscing about this blend he got up in Canton, OH. He thinks it was based on Latakia. Maybe it's not something that can be created anymore. I have tried searching, but in vain. We're talking 1970's and early 80's here.

No, I don't personally know of any. But if you do some focussed searching on TobaccoReviews.com you might find an English from the '70's that is described that way.

Reminds me of an old Mad Magazine strip from way back. It was "The Lighter Side of..." whatever. So guy is smoking a cigar in his house. His wife is disgusted by it and tells him to go out and do some chores. So he goes out and starts burning a pile of leaves. The wife says, "Ah... burning leaves - now that's a smell I love!" To which the husband replies, "A cigar IS burning leaves!!"
