I got a H&H sampler three months ago that included CBK. At that point it was my least favorite of the six. I rubbed out and jarred the cakes at that point.
But bringing out CBK now, I'm finding I like it a lot better. Maybe the anise/rum takes some getting used to. Maybe a few months in the jar improved it although I doubt that. It does seem to be a bit drier now than I remembered.
Yes, it's basically an aromatic, and I can see how it would not fit the taste profile of many. It's mild on the N-factor despite having a dark fired Kentucky component. I have nothing against aromatics per ce, but I tend not to like the vanilla topping that so many use -- especially the classic Lane vanilla topping in 1Q and RLP-6.
But right now, I'm kind of liking CBK and maybe I'll be a repeat customer.
