Burley Blend (No-name yet)

After more than a year since my last blending efforts that did not kill me or a buddy, the lab door has opened again and inspiration struck (aka what I had available) with this second attempt at a Burley based blend:

White and Dark Burley = 30%
Black Burley Cavendish = 35%
Light / Yellow Virginia = 25%
Perique = 10%

I have from that ratio mixed up a total of 25 grams and compressed it into a mason jar with some moderate pressure being applied. I am also going to place it in the sun a few hours a day, and let the blend sit like this for a few weeks.

Update: I decided to try my hand at adding a topping to the blend. The topping consisted of:

• Water
• Brown sugar
• Vanilla extract
• Bourbon

These were added in tiny amounts that yielded about 1-2 tsp in total that was then added and mixed into the 25 grams of tobacco.

Pressed this into a jar and let it sit for a week.

Now I am trying it in different pipes to see how it turned out. So far promising results.

Wonder how do you source the tobaccos and apply the topping. Sun is for fermentation?

You can buy whole leaf online at places like wholeleaftobacco or leafonly, they have whole leaves you can shred yourself and can then apply your own casing/topping to.

I sourced it from the southern mountains of a region known as Cornell and Diehl. There in the mystical land there grows crops ready for the selecting.

The sun is because I have no idea what I am doing and decided to try it.

I tried making my own aromatic using a stoved VA base and a sauce very similar to this - bourbon, real vanilla extract, and a touch of white sugar. Result was pretty good. I might experiment and try stoving it after adding the sauce rather than before.

Forgot to upload a photo of what the blend looks like after I took it out of the jar and allowed it to dry out for a couple hours.

Been smoking it in a couple pipes and one pipe that usually smokes latakia blends actually did very well with it.
