Bulk English

Best is in the tastes of the beholder. I enjoy C&D English blends with burley in bulk, like Old Joe Krantz, Billy Budd with cigar leaf, Bayou Night, Tuggle Hall, Stratfordshire, and Mountain Camp. Since I'm a burley devotee, I appreciate the inclusion of burley whether as a base or condiment.

Nat Sherman made an excellent English with burley as a condiment, blend 536, which was sold both by the tin and in bulk at their Manhattan store, now long-closed. That's about the most refined version of an English, with or without burley, that I have smoked, though that is highly subjective.

I believe c&d describes Big n Burley as a “light English.” That’s probably my fave

I second the Ol’ Limey Bastard. Great fresh and gets better with a little age.

The only bulk English blends I regularly return to are my two favorites from Kramer--Father Dempsey and English--and some of the offerings by L.J. Peretti (British is my current favorite, though Royal and Century are damn good, too). I would've loved to hang at Kramer's back in the day.

I smoke more Peter Skokkebye bulk English blends than any other. Not only do they smoke quite good, but are a good buy too.

Another vote for both C&D Stratfordshire and Byzantium - excellent value / quality.
