dmcmtk, it's not difficult, I don't think.
If you want to buy 1 pound of the tobacco, post that intention to this thread.

I get details of price, who to call to order, how to pay; I post these.

You follow through, and you get the tobacco.
I'm just the go-between talking to C&D, getting the information, as above, and relaying it to you.

I set up this up so that I could get a pound or two after smacking my lips, saying "hmmmmmm, that good! all the way through a tin."

The only thing final right now is that we have the minimum order C&D requires to do a one-off.
If you have more specific questions, post them.

Guys,
Creating a run of Chenet's Cake to make a few pounds in a format we don't offer is kind of expensive, which is why Chris quoted the $50-60 price in vacuum bags. We also don't think that vacuum bags are as good as tins for aging this product, so we don't want to do a general release in vacuum bags.
We should have 8oz tins of it out in about six weeks. Those'll run at $24.67 each (on SPC, other retailers will vary some). Would being able to get it in 8oz tins at less than $50/lb work instead of a short run in vacuum bricks?

Seems reasonable to me and gives me a whole paycheck to recover from the C&D sale that I am 17 lb deep in already.

This resolution is clearly much better than the group buy/pound/jar idea we proposed! Lovely, just lovely! I'm going to crack the tin of Chenet's I had cellared now in celebration of such a fantastic blend being offered at more affordable prices.
I think we forgot in all of this that there are many fine tinned blends whose manufacturers remain solidly deaf to our pleas for a bulk offering. If I could get Pease blends at $50/pound, I'd have 20 lbs in the cellar. Don't get me wrong, the price at which his 8 oz canisters sell is a bargain, given what Glynnn Quelch of GQ Tobaccos calls their "elegance and balance," words with which I wholeheartedly agree. But the problem is that even for a tobacco hog such as me, there are limits to what I can spend. Thus when the time to buy comes, a pound of Dark Flake at $55, rather than a pound of Gaslight at $70, rather than 10 tins of Escudo at $100, I can't help but be very tempted to give my business to GH rather than STG. But the point of all this is that sp has hereby given the pipe smokers who love Chenet's a high quality blend that as far as I'm concerned has nailed what at least one version of what a high-perique blend can be.
My hat is off to C&D and smokingpipes.

So guys, the group/bulk buy of Chenet's is hereby defunct.
