Building the pipe

I bought 2 briar wood blocks from greece cause i wanted to make a punisher pipe. Ive got the basic shape done, havent decided if i want to take more off or not. Anyway, how do i go bout fixing a stem when i get one? Do i glue it or just drill a hole with tight enough specs that it fits tight? I guess any other advice would be helpful, thanks. I would post pics of my pipe but dont know how...
