Looking for advice on pipe tobaccos to alway keep in stock. I have found that I am a fan of aromatics. Right now I have two staples: Lane 1-Q and Cult Blood Moon. I am now looking for the best Hazelnut and best Vanilla I can find. Thinking about Lane Hazelnut and Captain Black Royal. Thoughts?

Since you are fond of Cult Red Moon, pick up some of Lane TK-6, which I have been told on very good authority, is Cult Red Moon without the fancy label, and give it a go.
At this stage, just try out different blends and buy what sticks with you. The problem with stocking up too fast is that you may find yourself with a cellar that you no longer like. Tastes change over time.

I’ll definitely give that a try! Just added some of it to my online cart.

It's been a while but I used to smoke TK-6 as a change of pace from my usual English. As to 1-Q, I never really cared for it. Each to his own.... puffy

there is this thread all about 1Q vs CB Royal basically they taste the same with a different cut

so maybe don't bother or compare the two and make the one you like best as your preferred staple.

As far as Aro's go the only ones I keep around are the Samuel Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth stuff, definitely worth checking out if you haven't, try Grousemoor, Perfection Mixture, Kendal Creme, 1792, Rum Flake, Chocolate Flake, Bob's Chocolate Flake, Ennerdale, Kendal Black Cherry. a whole new world of natural tasting tobacco's with added flavor that doesn't taste al chemically. Enjoy the journey and load up that stable.

Since you enjoy Lane 1Q, the bulk equivalent of Captain Black Royal, I'd recommend you try some of the other Lane aromatics:
RLP-6 (Captain Black Original/White)
MV-1000 (Captain Black Gold)
LL-7.

I"d also recommend you visit tobaccoreviews.com & browse for other possibilities.

Check out the offerings from other blenders that produce great aromatic blends:
L.J. Peretti, Milan Tobacconists, Straus Tobacconist, The Country Squire, & Uhle's.

Sutliff makes a gazillion aromatics. Make sure you try some Creme Brulee (the bulk equivalent of Molto Dolce). Chocolate Supreme, Dulce de Leche, Maple Walnut, Vanilla Custard, & Vanilla Royale are all outstanding IMHO!

One blend that's a must-try: Pipesandcigars.com Trout Stream

If you like aromatics, I'd recommend definitely trying some of Boswell's confections. Man makes a good aro. Bear blend is a particular favorite of mine. It has a caramel taste that is surprisingly good. For a good vanilla, G.L. Pease's Virginia Cream is wonderful.
