adam12, you're a BS artist, and you have my respect sir.
Building cake = Always pack a full bowl and smoke it as low as you can before emptying out. After done smoking, put you thumb on the chamber top and shake the ash around inside the pipe. Empty out the ash, remove the stem, and blow into the mortise, which will coat the bowl with any condensation build-up. Let it dry, before repeating the process.
Or you could just smoke a lot and you'll find that it builds up without any real plan of action. :puffy:

I have a relatively new handmade pipe(P. Jeppensen IDA) that I've been breaking in. I have been trying to smoke it all the way to the bottom of the and not let it get too hot. However I am having difficulty doing both because the pipe wall is very thin at the bottom. So when I start to reach the last 1/4 or so, the bottom gets very hot. I put some pipe mud in to thicken the heal somewhat, but it still gets hot just about same. Can someone give me any suggestions?

Thanks all.
