These French, new old stock 80 year briar pipes with original horn and vulcanite stems look like a good value at under $50 each on SmokingPipes.com.

“…(in the) mid-2010s, when pipe artisan Bruno Nuttens procured a supply of vintage Brulor pipes and decided to resurrect the once-defunct brand. Though varied in terms of shape, finish, and stamping, these Brulor pipes — all of which date to the 1940s or earlier — represent vintage French craftsmanship as it existed during the first half of the 20th century. Furthermore, these Brulor pieces feature well-aged briar and their original stems…”

Anyone try one yet?

These French stummels have to be about the best bang for your buck. Regrettably I sold a few Ropp etudiants and haven’t been able to find the one I’m looking for again.
I have a Brulor in my cart at SP, just waiting on store credit to come in

No, but just ordered one.
I like horn stems and $55 can't be beat. Thanks for the heads up.
I also ordered a bunch of tobacco.
Yes, I'm very gullible and spontaneous. :)

That's the same one I just ordered.
I liked the lighter stain ones better, but the darker one like yours looks better with the horn in my opinion.
If I like it, I may buy the lighter one too.

Unfortunately my little Brulor billiard was short-lived. I made the mistake of trying to remove the stem when it was still warm and the tenon crumbled.

Very delicate pipes. At least it wasn’t too expensive and will go in the project pile for repair.
