Stayed up till 10:00 mtn to get my tins checked a few hours later, every site sold out. Tobacco Pipes had 2000. 1000 was gone in less thec5 minutes. I hope they release it every few years.

Man, the “reviews” at Smoking Pipes are full of racist trash written by pitiful losers blaming “Chinese Nationals” for snatching up all the tins before their pathetic, mediocre selves were able to do just the same. It’s remarkable that Smoking Pipes would allow such human garbage to leave “reviews” that have nothing to do with tobacco on their site.

I don’t like the way the reviews are done there either, I wish they could drop the worthless reviews but I understand the reviewers frustration, however, I’m not sure why things sell out so fast other than people are too excited.

It's wild to me that the Chinese are into tobacco this much... don't know why, I just always assumed the U.S. was THE market worldwide... similar to firearms. *insert American elitist reprimand here*

Oh no- the Chinese LOVE their cigarettes. There's a growing "upper middle class (ruling class/government backed class) that is diving head first into luxury goods no matter the cost. It's been snowballing for the past 20 years.
Many have proxies stateside with instructions to buy up what they can no matter the cost. That's been my experience since the Mcclelland close.

Interesting... I wonder if that's the reason for the midnight releases.

They aren’t ”into tobacco this much”, certain items of high value they can buy and collect as commodities, Cuban cigars, some high end alcohols, rare things, not tobacco releases like this. Ppl were rabid for this release and spc only had 2000 tins, others less. Blame ppl that bought 50+ tins from TP.com in one whack to flip them. A lot of dunskies in the world that show their ignorance more than they should.

No releases are the first minute they’re allowed to release it to the public if the releases on the 11th, of course most places want to do it at midnight right at midnight for all the lunatics like “us”. . There’s nothing to do with any market whatsoever

This is just about FOMO, right? What's so special about this blend other than that it's hard to get? And then the triumph, angst and rage and other weird emotions involving a tin of non sentient weed.
Why does anyone with any sort of an inner life decide to wrap themselves around this axle? Not just BS flake (maybe there's a message in the name) but ANY of it?

Why does anyone do anything, I'm going to guess there are dozens of different reasons for dozens of different personas. To each their own, yada yada yada.. Since it hasn't been around for years and it's a "limited run" I would guess there is a group that bought out of curiosity, some that bought because they have grand memories of the original production .. that will most likely be let down by the new blend, and a large number of people that plan on flipping it. There has been a tin on tin bids for $50 for the last few days (lol), so a little from column A and a little from column B.

I bought 5, 2 for me and 3 for different friends, I like a good VA / VaPer and while this isn't either of those I'm interested in what kind of "brown sugar sweetness" there actually might be.

But new reviews or old, this is a new "reimagined blend" so chances are good it's not going to be what people remember, because it isn't. I haven't seen any new reviews yet.
Of course, the benefit there is that a great many will not have smoked it, will have no clue what the earlier incarnation tasted like, will have no point of reference with the earlier stuff, and take this one on its own merits.

It's like with a great many "famous" blends that change hands a few times and/or get resuscitated. They aren't the same flavors that made the blend famous. It's just a tin with a famous name and tin art printed on it, often housing a pretty pedestrian replacement. Magical thinking being the predominant form of thinking, people instantly impart great quality and status on these changelings.

People like moi, who smoked the good stuff when it actually was the good stuff are at a disadvantage, because we know what famous "whatsis" tasted like when it was still made by "whosis", and that the new stuff isn't even a pale imitation.

Sometimes ignorance IS bliss.

Completely agree, I like Wessex Dark Flake, never had the "old stuff" before they changed the blend, I'm actually glad I never tried it, chances are I'd have 20 tins of stuff that was all of a sudden just "meh" to me.

I've learned my lesson after years of chasing vintage cuban cigars for top dollar, plenty of good fresh stuff out there (well before the habanos price massacre) that i liked just fine. So yes ignorance is bliss and saves on the wallet.
