I've somewhat delayed posting here in order to collect my thoughts on the gentleman pipe smoker that Mike is. His passing brought up many memories for me. He came to many, many of the CORPS Expos even before starting the Chicagoland show. Mike and I spent many hours on the phone and at the CORPS Expo talking about the mechanics of having a pipe collectors show, and commiserated and laughed and expressed each of our joys of hosting a show. I counted Mike as a very good friend, and we continued, I think, to look forward to seeing each other at the shows.
Mike was a gentleman of the first order, thoughtful, responsible, savvy, kind to his fellow man. His Parker collection and knowledge of the brand (and related others) was the most extensive in the world! And, of course, he took great joy from his collection, and wanted to communicate to the pipe world this joy! We've lost a friend and a brother. Rest in peace my friend, and please say hello to Tom, Basil, Rob and Geoff for me.
