That’s very sad. He took time out of his day in 2019 to show my wife and I around the D&R facility on an off the cuff email of mine. It was a great time and he was a real pleasure.

I met Mr. Ryan a few times. Enjoyed his talks and deep knowledge of perique and tobacco farming.

At the Richmond show last September we spent a couple of hours just talking about everything under the sun. We laughed and laughed like old friends.

He sent me packing with about $200 of his merchandise and a handshake agreement that I mail him a check later. Who does that?

Most of you have known of this man and all of his hard work and passion for many years now but not me. I’m just now learning about him. Upon reading this post i did some searching and watched a few videos. One was a 2 hour Youtube video from the virtual pipe club channel with Mark as the guest star. Man did @Jacob74 ever hit the nail on the head. He was definitely the man the world needed at the right time and in the right place. It’s so sad to see such a living legend of sorts has passed. He will be very missed by everyone. To any of you who knew the man personally and thought of him as I friend I offer my condolences. I hope his family is doing ok.

I spent a couple hours talking to Mark in the smoking tent at Chicago a year a couple years ago. He was welcoming, talkative, passionately opinionated (especially when it came to government regulations of tobacco), and funny. I am glad for the memory but sad to hear that it will be the last. RIP, Mark.

I was lucky enough to speak with Mark many times, and cherish one particular memory of an engrossing dinner in Las Vegas with him, Emily, Jesse and several other members of the pipe world. As many have noted Mark was always ready to share his knowledge and expertise with anyone who asked. He was also an amazing raconteur with a deep fund of fascinating stories. In a hobby rife with individuals Mark stood out as unique. Our loss is irreplaceable. God speed Mark Ryan.
