Aye Chris is a great carver, especially when he goes classic. I also really rate the work of Michail Kyriazanos.

I have studied, worked and lived in the UK for 12 years and love the place, people and culture. Greece and the UK have indeed been friends for a long time, there’s only the minor thing of some marbles, one of Beckham’s best ever goals and Jeremy Clarkson hating us ;)

I saw this match live, look at this shot, the curve, the Greek goalie didn’t even know which way to go :)

Both great carvers. I live Asteriou’s cutties, and props to Kyriazanos for helping keep the one piece or “all briar” alive.

Also enjoying the work, and particularly sandblasts of up and comer Yorgos Mitakidis.

Love the pipe - this is the first thing that popped into my mind when Greek-British relations were mentioned! I never bothered to looked up Dimitri Tiomkin's birthplace, but he was Russian. His scores graced many great films (his style very distinct) and he also composed the theme for Rawhide, lol. Thanks for this thread - I could not figure out what to have for the game this Friday - it shall be Gyros!A2F4595C-0E0E-4862-98BA-446484AFA484.jpeg

I was talking to one of the Greek carvers a few years ago when something called "Google Groups" was popular (the Zoom of its day, pretty much).

Got a video walk-around tour of his house.

Amazing stuff. He lives on an island and the only connection to the rest of the world is by boat. (There are no bridges, and it's too small for an airstrip.)

And his hobby---pipe making being his "day job"---was building a period-correct wooden boat in his back yard to replace his modern one.

Like, dayyyyum, son...

PS to paulfg --- those are GORGEOUS. You are hereby required by PipeWorld Law to post pics of the 7-day set when it's complete.
