they are affordable for normal people!
I'm just this side of normal so I hope they have something I could smoke, HA. They have some good looking pipes and Kevin's endorsement seals the deal.

Just came across this thread.
Being from Canada and a huge Brigham fan, I was very disappointed to see the production leave Canada many years ago. All my Brigham's are from the "made in Canada" days. I even have one un-smoked 4 dot "sportsman" made when the sportsman had no finish and a metal insert for the rock maple filter. I'll have to get it started this year. The newer "sport" pipes have a clear finish of some kind and plastic inserts to accept the filter.
Having said all that, I have never smoked one of the Brighams made over seas - just can't bring myself to do it although I'm sure they're good smokers. The vintage ones I have a brilliant smokers, even the 1 dots.

I wish them luck but I honestly don't see a very big market for a lower to medium end system pipe here in the states. But what do I know? [8O]
I wonder how things are going four years later. I bought one of the new Brighams but returned it. The quality just was not the same as is found in my Canadian-made Brighams. The number of fills on the virgin finished pipe was something I could not accept. Granted, I know that better briar was available when my other Brighams were made decades ago.

I've got a Brigham Algonquin 265. It's got a great feel but the draw is off. It always felt like something was lodged in the pipe somewhere but I think it's poor drilling. I'm not sure yet. If I remove the stem I can easily blow through both the stem and the shank. But once the stem is all the way in, blowing through the pipe becomes restricted.
If I pull the stem out ever so slightly the draw opens back up and air passages through much more easily. I'm wondering if I need to grind a millimeter or two off the tenon.
Side note, my buddy was Herb Brigham's dentist up in Toronto years ago. He claims that when he built Herb's dentures he gave them a slight outward curve to better assist with clenching his pipe.

Wow, congratulations to Brian Levine. I hung out with him for a short time at NYC and he acted like the same old Brian (which is well, like an...). There was a new stretch Maybach limo idling outside, must have been Brians.

Oops. Inattentively, I read this as breaking news, but instead I see that the original post was four years ago, with recent updates. Someone bumped it, and I can't see why. Okay, so, four years later, I think Brigham still has many devoted fans. I guess the pipes are now made in Italy (?). I have not noticed any refreshed presence of the brand in B&M or online, in particular, although my observation may not reflect their current sales figures. I tend not to be attracted to filtering systems. I do maintain a few balsa and/or 6mm paper filters, but I'm not interested in branching out to maple inserts or 9mm. I would say the follow-up posts on Brighams constitute mixed reviews, some real fans and some not altogether satisfied customers.

I smoke all the types of the filters mentioned. About a 1/3 of my pipes are filter-less. It varies with what tobacco I am smoking. Balsa are my least favorite. To me, it is all just a matter of each individuals personal taste.

I like the maple inserts. To me they are a nice looking pipe and the Brighams ( purchased everywhere from B&Ms to E-BAY ) all smoke well.
