I have a Brigham that I bought for next to nothing because the mortise was drilled a little crooked, so the stem is a little crooked. It smokes fine, but the diameter of the airway through the wooden filter is small and harder to pass a cleaner through than a regular pipe. Smokes fine, though.

I have several Brighams and have smoked them mostly with the maple inserts in them. I have found them to be really good smokers and haven't noticed them getting any dirtier than any other pipes I have.

I plan on getting a few more of them when I come across them.

When I was interested in a variety of international pipes, Brigham was going to be my choice for a Canadian made pipe. However, I could never resign myself to the rock maple inserts ... nothing terrible about them, but just one more accessory to clean and keep up with. I've heard they can be smoked just as well without the inserts, but that's not how they are designed. When Brigham sent its production to Italy, my interest in them faded. For a Canadian pipe today, I'd go for Blatter and Blatter of Montreal.

But Brigham are good looking pipes at reasonable prices, Some swear by them.
