In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
What I've always read over the last 30 years is it's not in short supply. What is in short supply is the labor to harvest it. Why spend all day doing back breaking labor when you can work indoors, in the air conditioning? I'm sure with the increase in education and changes in technology, the pool of harvesters has grown smaller.
and at some point it changes and people get sick of being stuck indoors all day, especially if they work with Kevin.

A few years ago someone posted a video on Forums illustrating the hard labor of harvesting briar in rough forested rocky areas, requiring shovels to excavate around the briar roots, and axes and saws to chop out the blocks, that then have to be hauled out with all of the tools. An AWD might only go so far to provide access.
