That's, uh, unique! :)
I've continued to wash/rinse out every bowl and stem while on board ship. Smoking outside in humidity level of over 80%, sometimes 90%! If tobacco is too dry set it on the balcony for a half hour. If too wet, the cabin is at 50%, dries down in fairly short order.

Well, unfortunately the fellow above is no longer a member.
I'd never use a detergent or soap on the interior of a pipe, though. And drying with a paper towel after means I can smoke the pipe immediately if I choose. (The residual moisture is virtually a non-factor. Moisture from smoking is directly related to how wet the tobacco is and how hotly combusted. (the latter being impacted, [but not solely governed] by how tightly packed)
