It's got a bit of cavendish

I don't understand why so many blends have to contain cavendish. I've learnt so far that black cavendish is often used to hide lower quality tobaccos or to apply different (unfortunately too often very artificial) flavourings. It's not a surprise it can often be found in many OTC blends, not to mention all the superlatives on the pouches which are more then evidently exaggerated.

I know that natural cavendish can be tasty and not all the producers are lying but many probably are, that's why I tend to avoid it if possible.
You can be safe if you take at least half the posts with a grain of salt.... Or maybe a shaker full.... :)

I just read a fairy tale which says at the end: "What a trick he had played on Brer Fox! 'Why, I was born and raised in a Briar Patch, Brer Fox!' " I'm glad you mentioned that Rabbit, it was a nice "add-on" to my smoke, better than cavendish. :)

Burning animal fur in tobacco is wretched!! When Br'er Rabbit came into my life, the words were formed in a deep dialect, but I guess the PC people had them excised.
Similarly, in Peter and the Wolf, no longer do the hunters dispatch the creature; he is hauled off to the zoo!

Trying this for the first time myself. Got a tin from 2016 (it had even started to bulge a wee bit). I've always found C&D virginias to be flat and unexciting, but I like cakes and plugs.
Upon opening it was pretty.. tin note was lackluster and subtle. Looks like the burley isn't overdone so I hoped it would provide some nuance and punctuation.
Like Cosmic stated above, I instinctively reached for a larger bowl(of which I have few), a Loewe Inverness. Group 4/5 capacity on this guy.
Pleasantly surprised halfway through. Clean taste, enjoyable even. I think the burley is a terrific compliment and livens it up. I may grab another tin or 2 to toss down in the celar.

I picked up a pound of Hal O' the Wynd a few weeks ago. Sheesh, and I thought Samuel Gawith was wet. Left enough for two bowls out over an hour.

Smoked the first bowl and it was just OK. I let the rest sit out overnight another 12 hrs. That second bowl was borderline magical. Great stuff.
