Briar Dedication for Lakeland Blends

Slightly off track, but this thread has reminded me of the tin (I vacuumed sealed bag don’t worry) of exotic passion/orange I have. Have any of you dedicated a briar to this? I’m wondering whether when I get around to opening it I just kick start off a new cob with it.

I just assumed you wouldn’t want to in a new Cob, since it will be absorbed easier into the Cob, and better to smoke a few bowls first to char/carbonize the chamber slightly... hmm ?

Yep that’s a fair call. Wasn’t so much worried about ghosting the cob with the blend, but assumed that the blend might be subtle and wanted to get as much flavour out of any nuances as possible.

I have an old Brigham billiard dedicated to most of the Lakeland’s mentioned. I have not detected any adverse flavors yet. However, I only smoke that pipe once every two or three months. If I ramp up my Lakeland consumption, I will most likely add two more pipes.

How I dedicate pipes are in the following:

Some briars for lakelands.
Some briars for burley/Virginias.
Some briars for light aromatics.
Two briars for heavy cherry aromatics.
Some cobs and briars for English.
1 briar for latakia.
1 briar for perique.

I keep them in order with pipe stands.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! As with most things pipes, it appears that there are as many answers to my question as there are members of this forum, and none of them are wrong! I am glad to get a variety of perspectives, as well as to find out what worked for all of you.

Nah, I’m not wasting my time with cheap pipes anymore.

Cheap as in crappy, not meaning Good inexpensive.

So no more cheap crappy for me.

The only good inexpensive pipes I’ll be smoking from are Cobs.

I smoke and and all blends in any and all of my pipes.

I'm with him. Not sure my taste/smell buds are that sensitive nowadays.
