Briar Dedication for Lakeland Blends

A recent thread on pipe dedication, along with the recent Gawith drop, has me thinking:

For those who smoke Lakelands out of briar, how do you dedicate pipes to these blends?

I currently have one briar I dedicate to stronger Lakelands, and I use it to smoke Bosun, Coniston, and Dark Flake (scented and unscented).

However, I recently took advantage of the latest drop to order a number of other blends (Ennerdale, Kendal Flake, Rum Flake, Brown Flake Scented, and a few others), and I am wondering if it would be judicious to dedicate 2-3 briars to these blends, as there seems to be a wide variety of flavors and each blend is a little different.

If you smoke Lakelands out of briar, and you don't dedicate pipes to each individual blend, how many pipes do you use, and how are they divided among the blends?

Perhaps I'm overthinking this, but it's a question that's been on my mind for a while, and I'm be interested to hear the perspective of those more experienced in this regard than myself.

I was in the same boat.
First I used eBay estate pipes. All that I have, so around 30 different ones. Now I have a couple of cobs, (Diplomat Apple Bent) close as I could find to sav 122.

I would dedicate a pipe to rum flake for sure. It is a great blend that has many subtle nuances.

One for each blend. They ghost any pipe, not just briar.

If you smoke other blends in a dedicated pipe, you get the ghost at no extra cost.

I tried to dedicate briars to genres of complimentary Lakeland’s blends, but every one just kept saying cobs. lol

I don’t have a deep enough cellar to justify dedicating a pipe to each Lakeland blend I like, so I have one pipe for Tonkin vibe blends and another for ennerdale.

st Bruno, 79, war horse I prefer in cobs. Actually I mainly reach for a cob these days anyways

When I’m getting towards the end of a jar of stuff I chuck the dregs into a simple burley blend or stove it with some whole leaf Va. Currently have Prince Albert + bf#7. Actually prefer it to either of the blends by themselves

Meers and cobs not ghosting is a myth, they're more absorbent than briar.

I smoke a fair bit of Lakelands, or used to, and I only have one pipe dedicated to them. If I smoked more Ennerdale, though, I'd probably have a second pipe just for that.

I'm trying my hand at as many Lakelands as I can at the minute. I didn't realise I should of kept a pipe for each different one. I thought just keeping pipes for Lakelands would be enough.
To be fair thou, my favourite has been Ennerdale.
Once I get through the different ones I have and have ordered, I would think I'd keep a cob or buy a 122 or 316 for just Ennerdale then use the other cobs and estates for the other Lakelands.

@brut666 make the most of the SG plugs available your side of the pond. Cannon recently knocked Grousemoor off top spot for me. RB is really good too in a different way. GH dark plug scented/aro is great too if you can find it

Just ordered one off everything in the shop or at least what they had as samples?
Got cannon and bosun from my secret santa as well. Living the dream ?

Have you tried st Bruno? If so, how does bosun compare to this? I was thinking of grabbing the plugs when they are available in US next as an alternative

Not tried st bruno as of yet. I should do thou as that's all my grandad used to smoke. Some shops have it otc here.
Where do you get it from usually?

I can smell the floral in Bruno Ready Rubbed in the pouch, but I can't really taste it in the smoke. I can both smell the floral in the jar, and taste it in the smoke in BCP. They are also different kinds of floral. Bosun is more complex. Sauce-wise if Ennerdale is 10, Bosun is 6 or 7 and Bruno is 0 to 1.

See, I've heard this many times before, that's why I've not tried Bruno yet.

I certainly want to own quite a few pipes, but I certainly have a lot more tabac than pipes at the moment, making dedicating a bit hard.

I say if the pockets aren’t deep enough, only smoke one bowl, then clean good, dry good, the next time around, smoke Burley, or a light English, or a non Ghosting blend(s) to clean out the Ghost before smoking a Lakeland over.

I’ve had luck with Burley and light English blends cleaning out Ghosts.

Maybe straight Va or VaPer can do the trick as well... hmm ?
