For those into extreme sports or have a need for an adrenaline rush, today will be the day that Felix Baumgartner will climb to 23 miles up in the air in a ballon from which he will jump from and setting a new record held since the 1950s. Some serious risks are involved today.

That would be so sweet. I'm big into skydiving. I'd love the opportunity but I'm not nearly good enough yet haha

Ive jumped once. Definitely want to do it again....hell, id get certified to go solo without question but that is one seriously expensive hobby and my bank account cant keep up with that sort spending on top of my racing.

I spent six years in the Canadian Airborne Regiment the American equivelant to the Rangers. I can tell you one thing for sure, when you get higher than 15 thousand feet it gets pretty freakin cold! My hat is off to him but this trooper is done doing stupid things for the adrenelin rush. My knees are screwed now from the jumping I did do.

Yeah it's super expensive, I got certified a few years ago. I'm holding off now until I graduate.

Scrubbed again. :crying:
It's funny but he'll break the sound barrier first (and quickly) (maybe) and slow down more and more the farther he falls until he hits terminal velocity (slowing down to terminal velocity... that seems backasswards  ), then open his parachute at 5,000 feet.

I wonder if he'll have any sensation of speed or falling prior to breaking the sound barrier.

Has anyone heard what will become of the capsule and balloon after he jumps?
Igloo... that was too funny!
:puffy:

The First Jump

A man goes skydiving for the first time. After listening to the instructor for what seems like days, he is ready to go.

Excited, he jumps out of the airplane. About five seconds later, he pulls the ripcord. Nothing happens.
He tries again. Still nothing.
He starts to panic, but remembers his back-up chute. He pulls that cord. Nothing happens. He frantically begins pulling both cords, but to no avail.
Suddenly, he looks down and he can't believe his eyes. Another man is in the air with him, but this guy is going UP!
Just as the other guy passes by, the skydiver -- by this time scared out of his wits -- yells, "Hey, do you know anything about skydiving?"
The other guy yells back, "No! Do you know anything about gas stoves?"
