Breaking in a Pipe

I use the "Educated finger method" . After over 40 years I just shove in tobacco until it feels right.

I tried the Frank method out for a while, but I eventually got a feel for a correct pack by paying attecntion to the draw. The Frank method is just too much to fool with for me.

Agree, really a packing issue, but you still want to break her in to build up a nice cake at bottom of bowl as well...I use "Frank Method" most

Times unless it is a burley then just gravity fill and light tamp down for that stuff works best IMO

If all else fails, go get yourself an M80, put it in the bowl and blow out all the old cake and then break it in again.

I can't add anything that hasn't been said already, but I'm with unclearthur, I just throw tobacco in my pipe and start smoking. I have never used any method in packing my pipes, most of the time I do a scoop and push with my tobacco and push it down!!
