I have been wanting to try those Middle Earth tobaccos. that will definetly be my next online order. As for the tins you picked up, I have heard good things about all of them. On the Town is the only one i have smoked out of those and it is really good!

Indeed! They are $3.25 an Ounce (Possibly less if you buy more than that.)
I would most certainly recommend getting more than an Ounce of Each, seeing as Shipping is $6.60 per order.
Also, I am heartbroken that they seem to have discontinued the Fifth Tobacco in the series: "Longbottom Leaf"
I WANTED THEM ALL, CONFUSTICATE IT!

Also, just so you all are aware:
I actually use such Anachronistic exclamations such as: "Great Scott! By Jove!, and By George!" and the above "Great Scott!" was not just for effect.
My vernacular is HEAVILY influenced by the works of P.G. Wodehouse (My all-time favourite writer that isn't J.R.R. Tolkien) I highly recommend anything by him, really. He is probably most famous for the invention of Jeeves, the all-knowing butler (Or, Gentleman's Personal Gentleman)
Such traces of his works in my vocabulary (Besides those Exclamations above) are the fact that my Standard greeting to someone is "What Ho!" (Which, means Hello, but can be very awkward for the first time I speak to people.) and my standard affirmation is "Right Ho!"
Also, my spelling is, by and large, to the British standard, even though I have never been out of the U.S. and have only been out of Florida twice. You may have noticed it above, when I spelt Favourite.
So there you go! More than you ever needed to know about Ian!

Also, tiltjlp YOU'RE the one that wrote that primer? I read that a couple of days ago, and I have to commend you on how well it was written! A most interesting read, indeed!

Longbottom Leaf is still available on Just For Him's website. I was actually just looking at it.

Is it? I wasn't able to find it! If you would link me, I would be grateful. (Just PM it to me, so as to avoid any "Non-Sponsor Advertising", I wouldn't want you to be eviscerated on my account!)

My vernacular is HEAVILY influenced by the works of P.G. Wodehouse (My all-time favourite writer that isn't J.R.R. Tolkien)

It was now, as I have said, Thursday, the twenty-second of July,—a glorious, sunny morning, of the kind which Providence sends occasionally, simply in order to allow the honest smoker to take his after-breakfast pipe under ideal conditions. These are the pipes to which a man looks back in after years with a feeling of wistful reverence, pipes smoked in perfect tranquillity, mind and body alike at rest. It is over pipes like these that we dream our dreams, and fashion our masterpieces.

Excellent choices on the tins! I have smoked Anniversary Kake and Early Morning Pipe and love them both! Frog Morton on the Town is a great smoke as well. It looks like you are well on your way to enjoying the hobby. Also, dont forget to stock up on pipe cleaners, because pipe cleaners are cheap. A new pipe is not. Be careful though! This hobby can be really addictive. Soon you will have a full blown case of Pipe Acquistion Disorder (PAD) and Tobacco Acquisition Disorder (TAD). We await your thoughts on your pipes and tobaccos.

Just make sure you say, "What Ho?" and not "What, Ho?" an unintentional pause can get you a beatdown in some neighborhoods!
Great choices on pipes and baccy! You'll have to keep us posted on your experiences!

Indeed, Samedi! (Excellent username, by the way.)
I shall most certainly keep you all posted! (The Wheels of P.A.D., tucked away in some deep and primeval cranny in my Psyche, are already beginning to awake.)

Another thing to consider once you have a couple of good pipes and have some good smoking technique under your belt, you can try buying estate pipes off of Ebay and restoring them yourself. It makes a great hobby and you can get some great smoking pipes for dirt cheap as long as you are willing to do the work to fix them up yourself. Either that, or you can send them off to someone to get them restored and still get a great pipe for a great price when you consider the price of most new pipes these days. Happy hunting!

So, thanks to the god-among-men LifeOn2, I had my first smoke today! Stokkebye's Luxury English in a knock-around pipe that he sent me!
I quite enjoyed it! I have a picture, but my blasted brother hasn't sent them to me yet. I shall keep you updated!

(Sorry! I forgot to tell you my impressions!) I quite liked it! It was Smokey, with hints of cream... and once, I think, Oranges... It was peppery to me, as well.
It smoked very well, and I only had to re-light once! And that was only because I went into the store, and snuffed it out.
I didn't notice any bad flavours after the Snuffing and relighting, either, so that is good.
All-in-all, I enjoyed it very much, and will continue my smoking endeavours!
Thanks again, Life. Not only did you do an amazing thing, You made me confident in buying $120 worth of Smoking supplies!
(Also, since I had no Pipe-cleaners, I used Cotton Swabs tipped with Isopropyl Alcohol. I could only clean the shank with the method, however.)

Smokey! Thats the Latakia goodness. A quick heads up, it really isnt necessary to clean your pipe with isopropyl alcohol, or any kind of alcohol, after each smoke. If you lack pipe cleaners, you could just run a dry q-tip into the shank and grab a good ole' fashion paper towel and wipe out the inside of the bowl. I actually clean the inside of the bowl with a paper towel when I am breaking in a new pipe. Your only concern would be the stem, which I'm sure wouldnt be a huge deal in the short term, but it is preferable to get some pipe cleaners. Remember the old rule of thumb: Pipe cleaners are cheap. A new pipe is not. Good luck with the rest of your endeavors.

I assumed such a cleaning wouldn't be, but I figured that I would do it this first time, considering this is a used pipe.

What Ho! I just smoked my second bowl! The blend is called Blackwatch. I was intrigued by the pouch smell, which smelled like Apples and Dates. It packed no problem, and only required one re-light (and that was only after it went out whilst I was talking.
It was remarkably cool after the first couple of minutes as well! It was rather sweet, too. Every so often I picked up a flash of Apple, a slight Smokiness, (Which may have been from the Luxury English) and a pretty steady creaminess!
I also picked up lime, of all things!
All-in-all, An excellent smoke! Thank you once again, Life.
Finding himself really quite relaxed, Ian
