Bowl Seasoning... help!

I'm one of those guys who just put's whatever tobacco I plan on smoking in a new pipe and smoke it. I don't do anything special. No partial bowl, no special cleanings, no nothin'. I've not had any problems. I just like to relax.

That's a great link Dochudson... thank you! Schmitzbitz, you make a good point in that breaking in the pipe is unique as to how you smoke it, but similar in concept. I am a hot smoker, so perhaps I should do a few half bowls a little more slowly than usual. Just to prepare for a very hot, whole bowl.

As far a the paper towel wiping tip is concerned.....do you do this immediately after you dump out the ash while the bowl is still hot or let it cool first?

Jtaggie: welcome to the forum ;-)
Immediately after smoking, run a cleaner down the stem to sop up the moisture, run a paper towel (or your cleaner folder over) through the bowl. So yes, when it's still warm right after smoking.
That'll do it ...

If you let the bowl get cool, the cake hardens and the paper towel won't remove much, if any. That was a good question!
