There are pipes made for mountain climbing which have a ring on them for attaching to a carabiner. This is not one of them. But follow Cosmic's advice and put it on a string and fashion yourself a necklace. You could put a loop of string around the tenon like at pipe shows, but you could have that sucker around your neck. Boom. Just make sure the string is short enough that it can't reach the ground or you'll look like an idiot when you drop your pipe.

I have a new (2 week old) Savinelli Trevi Smooth (311 KS) when I was going in the house, I set it on the lip of the canopy for the patio, (about 7' high). The screen door went off track and I pulled it off to fix it, forgetting about my pipe and knocking it off, it appeared to fall on the mouth piece bounced and left a pretty good scratch and bounced and dented the rim of the pipe. It could have been worse, it could have been one of my Ardors.

Be careful, and enjoy it.

I'd get a little box for pipe odds and ends, like adaptors you aren't using, stingers you take out, stems you've replaced, etc. I generally use the Savinelli adaptors, and you should at least give it try. I find the filter pipes without a filter or adaptor are often a little too airy and turbulent in the airway without the adaptor, for me. The adaptor smokes about like a pipe without a filter, like many pipes including some series of Savinelli and some of their Rossi pipes too. As you see from other posts, some prefer the pipes without filter or adaptor. You only know if you try them out. The adaptor will also work with most pipes with 6 mm filters like Dr. Grabows or Medico, and I also use them for my Grabows. Personal preference. Try all three -- the filters, the adaptor, and nothing. You may want to switch off depending on the blend and your mood.

Do you drop glasses or bottles a lot? I ask, because maybe you’re over worrying.

I used to box when younger, and while never diagnosed as brain damaged, as it never occured to doctors back them, I did get my nose broken over a dozen times. I don’t drop my pipe nor my drinks. So, I don’t worry about that. But, I may have some serious braindamage, because I do find myself posting on a forum exclusively for people to talk a out pipes. Outside of my content that I post, some still might call that “unusual” behavior. :puffy:

@olkofri I'm not needing filters, I'm smoking like a dragon and it's not gurgling! It's the fucking Savinelli briar!

@crashthegrey how do I put a string around the tenon? It sounds like a great idea but I have no idea of how to do this. And what kind of string?

@Cosmic I don't drop stuff a lot but that has happened, so I better be careful with something so important...
I liked the string idea as I use a necklace which I could tie the pipe to.

When pipes are for sale at pipe shows they often have a tag. If you pull the stem out, you can tie a string to the tenon, and then when you push the stem in it will hold it in place between the stem and the stummel. Just a thought.

Cosmic, you had a serious boxing career. I just took a gym class. After the first class or two, I realized that all the flyweights and many others had dropped out. I excelled at the light bag, could really make that mother sing. But not much upper body and no weight to put behind a punch. Saw a few stars, completed the class, and knew that was one more thing at which I had no talent. I think I admired myself for sticking with it. Next class, badminton. Also fencing, at which I was fairly good, a small target and tightly wound nervous system. The coach even talked of me being a potential competitor in epee, though I wasn't quite that good.
