I brought ffishing gear, and the weather was unseasonably beautiful. But we were having such a smokathon we plumb went right through lunch and ended up closing down Boswell's. So there was not much time to check out the trouts by the time I grabbed a bite.
Al brought doughnuts and his wife baked some fantastic cookies, some of which came home for wifey to enjoy too. There was plenty of coffee, also courtesy Al, and then Gail Boswell when that ran out. Next time we get together, I'll get the dougnuts/coffee. Boswell's is a must to visit for any piper - a huge amount of history and knowledge there and multiple lounges to puff away.
I'm still puzzled at Al's taste profile, since his Old Dublin that he gave me was normal and very tasty as always. Likewise for the Bonifiglioli 43rd Anniversary, though I sense Al hasn't progressed to Latbombs yet. Next meetup, I'll bring another array of Lats to scope out his palate further. But how can you love Dunhill 965 and like Gordon Pym and not OD? A puzzlement.
Sure also enjoyed comparing Peretti tales, since I go there several times a year and was just there the week prior. It was funny that I knew enough about their byzantine ways to give Boston native Ryan/Brian some tips. He'll be on my call list next time I get up to Beantown for some serious delving into Peretti's bodacious and manifold blends as well as their considerable open stock of Gawith Hoggarths.
Jim was across the room and busy buying pipes, so we didn't get to chat nearly as much. I was busy sampling my way through Boswell's Virginias and Latakias, though maybe that's no excuse.
Looking forward to the next roundup, and I'll twist some arms locally to participate. Thanks Al for pulling this together, and to Brian and Jim for the long drives they made. I thought I would be the longest distance drivein.
