Some of you Boswell and pipe enthusiasts have expressed meeting at Boswell Pipes & Tobacco in January. I called the shop today and spoke with Dan. He said any Saturday is fine by them and we are welcome for their entire business day, 10 - 4 PM. Dan said they aren't in the workshop on Saturday, but can stay on the floor to answer questions etc. Once we get a date determined, he said to let him know and he would beef up inventory.
So, which Saturday in January works for most of those interested? Please post your preference of:
Jan 7th - my preference, but I'll make any work.
Jan 14th -
Jan 21st -
Jan 28th -
I'll pop for coffee and donuts at the nearby Dunkin Donuts. If the group wants to stay thru lunch, I might even be able to come up with some fried chicken and biscuits from one of my nearby Roy Rogers Restaurants. Although, I've never eaten fried chicken and smoke a pipe!
What are the thoughts of the group?

I'll also be inviting similarly interested folks from the Brothers of Briar and SmokersForums groups.

Any Saturday in January will work for me except the 14th, when I have a prior commitment.
BTW, I was at the shop late yesterday from 5 PM 'til closing. I had a nice chat with Gail while she was picking the pipes for the website sale this morning. I mentioned to her that JM could expect a call from someone from the forum about a possible gathering at the store, so your call today was timely! While I was there I picked up a tin of Mac Baren 7 Seas Gold, and Gail gave me a dish of home made cookies as a bonus. Great people.

I'm about an 8 hour drive but it's not out of the question, it all depends on weather for travel. I'll keep an eye on this thread and if I can be there, I will be.

I'm in West Chester, so it's probably about 2.5 hrs (or 2 bowls) if the weather is good. I've flyfished in Chambersburg, but have yet to make the pilgrimage to Boswell's. January would be a good time to start.

Les: The largest brown I've ever caught was on Falling Spring, a few miles from that store - in February I believe.
If you make it, I have a tin of Peterson Old Dublin with your name on it!
I'll let replies percolate for a few days, than start narrowing down that date.

Riff - it will be warm Saturday - 50's. Wonder if the trouts in Falling Springs might want to rise? I'll see if Steve from Morley's and Chuck from SF want to pool over to Chambersburg.

The Falling Spring trout are always active, but with temps in the 50's, they just might be rising!
I stopped by Boswells today, we're all set. They have a coffee maker upstairs, so we are welcome that. I'll bring a couple dozen donuts, maybe some Christmas cookies and some unusual tobacco blends to sample.
I'll see everyone on Saturday, travel safe.

I just got home, what a great day. Lots of pipes to admire and many great tobaccos to try. Myself, Lestrout, Boxerbuddy(Ryan/BoB forum) and radio807 (Jim) were in attendance. It was a real pleasure to meet some internet folks in person. Ryan and Bill each went home with new Boswell pipes I'm sure you'll get to see soon.
I'm loading pictures now and will post them shortly. I appreciate the drive Les and Ryan (drove down from Boston!) had to make, thanks for the effort and I hope you each had safe travels home. Bill was also heading back to to his home in NJ.
JM, Dan and Gail at Boswells were very gracious and the upstairs lounge was just wonderful. Gail kept us supplied with fresh coffee all day (10 - 4 PM!) and even opened their meeting room was packed with terrific pipe memorabilia from JM's collection.
