I may have to buy a pouch, just to give it a go... for old time's sake.

I haven't had the cherry in a long long time. It isn't to heavy on the chems is it?

Hmmm...I'm not sure...??

I guess it would contain more yukkies if is mass produced ??

Maybe use it as an add on or filler to cap off the top of the filled bowl....maybe?? Hmmm..??

juozapas, tried your idea of capping off the bowl with my Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey after filling with a local sweet blend. Dang good idea. Started off good and just got sweeter the more I smoked. I would have never thought of that. Some of us 'tards down in R-kin-saw need a good idea from time to time. :)

Still have half a bag left but I've about given up on it. I burn my tongue everytime I smoke it. Even a light draw on the pipe produces an unpleasant bite. I will push it aside and move on to other brands. Still grateful for the gift from my wife but will steer her in another direction next time.

Funny! And hats off to your wife, buck67 ... thoughtful of her to pick up a pouch of BR!
I tasted Borkum Riff Whiskey for the first time in a really long time a few weeks ago. I was at a hopelessly dull event and ducked out to see if I could pick up something to smoke (didn't have my pipe or tobacco). At the Walgreen's across the street, I picked up a $5 cob and a packet of Borkum Riff Whiskey (the most appealing option of those available behind the counter).
I had smoked BR (Whiskey, Cherry, and that low-nicotine gray label) when I was in high school and college - it was okay at the time. I was moderately pleased with the taste of the BR in the cob. Certainly better than nothing! A pretty cool smoke until I made it half way down the bowl. Then the burning and gurgling started. Ah, the memories!
Before I threw the packet in the garbage a week ago, I tried another bowl in one of my regular briars, and though the initial aroma and room note were pleasantly nostalgic, the burn started almost right away. Reminded me of one of the setbacks I had as a junior pipesmoker. I'm so glad I have access to tastier and cooler-smoking alternatives!

I emailed her a link to J.M. Boswell's website and told her to check out the Christmas Cookie and Berry Cobbler blends. Santa Clause might leave something in my stocking that we would both enjoy.

About 3 years ago I worked on a ranch for the summer. I remember going to a local tobacco shop and buying pouches of Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey and Captain Black White. I also remember smoking all of the CBW and only 1/3 of the Borkum Riff. I had no pipe experience and I am fortunate that my first pipe didn't have a burnout from being smoked too hot or mold from all the moisture. I didn't know you had to clean the pipe either lol and on top of all of that I was a punk kid and would smoke other things out of the pipe as well. Anyways, ranting aside I remember I didn't like Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey very much, but I did like the way it smelled.

I always have some around. It is very often my to work smoke. It's what my dad smoked when I was a kid. It was the first pipe tobacco I smoked. The quality has improved markedly in the past 3-4 years. IMHO, it ain't half bad.

you are lucky it wasnt Condor... nothing beats that shampoo tasting shit in crapness.. except maybe other condor blens

... honestly BR whiskey tastes bad and bites like a rattlesnake... also runs HOT as no other tobacco ever runned for me... i have a hatred for borkum riffs (only the Original Mixture room note for nostalgia reasons) but if you like it go for it. i wouldnt recommend it to anyone who asked me though.
P.S. keep lit or die trying LOL :puffpipe: :puffpipe: :puffpipe:

I was given two pouches of Borkum Riff Bourbon Whisky as a gift and smoke it from time to time.

I don't find anything repugnant about it. I occasionally mix it with a little Cavendish or other tobacco,

to pick up the flavor. I don't like it as well as PA or Granger, among the over-the-counter tobaccos,

but it doesn't inspire the yuck factor in me that way it does in some others. It's okay, not the grand prize.

When I light up the next bowl of Dunhill MM 965 or Nat Sherman 536, etc., their elegance bursts upon

me again as if new.
