I know some of you have ordered from Bollito, so I have a question. On their website and on ebay (they sell there too), the pictures that they use seem to be the same for different pipes. I am looking at these different smooth Castello 93s and I notice that they all have the same grain. Do others notice this too?

And, more importantly, if you have ordered from them, have you noticed a discrepancy between the pipe received and the one pictured? Thanks.

I ordered a bunch of Savinelli Grezzas (seconds) from them after learning they were discontinued. It definitely was not the pipe pictured. However, they were seconds so that wasn’t important to me and I do not remember reading anywhere that the pipe you see is the pipe you get like smokingpipes.com/eu.

The worst thing about ordering from them was that the only shipping option I was given was a courier which was expensive on its own and on top of that I had to pay a ton of import taxes and duties to the courier to make the delivery. The cheap pipes I wanted ended up being not so cheap.

That's a real shame. They seem to have a large inventory. If you sell something for $500+, you can at least show what is being sold.

That is good to know...I agree, if you are selling pretty much any decent pipe it should be the one pictured. Its really the norm these days. I wouldnt knowingly buy a pipe from a generic product photo. They may as well do like the old days and show a silhouette of the pipe shape.

I’ve purchased a few pipes and cheroot accessories from Bollito and found them to be excellent to deal with. They use DHL courier service exclusively because the Italian post is too unreliable and a lot of merchandise was getting damaged. DHL is a bit expensive but it is quick at least. Before they switched carriers I had an Ardor pipe broken in transit- they immediately refunded my money and had Domiano Rovera make me a similar one.
As for whether the pipe you see is the pipe you get I don’t know because there weren’t multiple listings for pipes similar to those I’ve ordered from them.
If you contact them they will get back to you and I would imagine they will provide additional photos of pipes you are interested in if you ask.

I have purchased several pipes from them,no problems.
Yes they use DHL as italian post can be unreliable.
As for taxes if you pay import taxes I expect to be charged them and factor it in in thr price. If the parcel arrives without taxes its a bonus.
I dont understand why people gripe about import taxes ,if your country charges it then expect to pay it as a cost to doing business
.I bet the purchase price was reduced by the amount of Italian vat compared with an Italian buying it.Swings and roundabouts

If you are in the EU you should not pay any import taxes from another EU member country. I dont think all vendors do it but technically they are supposed to charge your country's vat amount instead of theirs. It can vary a a percent point or two.

correct,Although I buy some things from the UK and always expect that UK vat is removed and Greek taxes plus a handling fee will be charged.Occassional I get lucky and import taxes arent charged but its rare.
The op is talking about buying in EU and shipping to US

I understand. People in the US should not be paying an import tax on a pipe. If someone screws up and treats it like tobacco it needs to be corrected (easier said than done Im sure.)

EU countries pay VAT on imports from the UK. The UK left the EU and thus the trading union during Brexit.

I have ordered off them in the past without issue and the castello pipes you see/order will be the one that you get, no doubt at all.
I am looking at pictures and they all seem to be the exact same. I can't bring myself to trust it. I am glad you got what you saw though.

I’m not sure what pipes you’re looking at, maybe some generic shop pipes perhaps but Castello’s are all one off’s pretty much and I look at their sit regularly

I just had a look at their site and I could not find any duplicated images of Castello pipes nor could I find duplicated reference numbers, not sure what you’re looking at tbh.
