Based on your love for ABF, i'd say give Jackknife or Triple Play a go. He has a ton of great blends, but these 2 are fuller bodied offerings.

I really tried hard to like it. I kept putting it away and revisiting it…still nothing…with filter, without…I did taste something but it wasn’t appealing at all

My favorite GLP blends are Windjammer and Navigator. Unfortunately, Windjammer only comes in 2oz tins.
I just need to rant for the Irish! Seriously Peterson, an Irish Pipe Institute, and the Irish have terrible tobacco laws and no tobacco in Ireland! This is ridiculous! 
Seriously, if I lived near Peterson, my Irish Ass would be over there, trying to understand how to turn this around in Ireland!

Meridian is a rather curious blend. I enjoyed it a lot. Odyssey isn't exactly the Lat bomb some say.
Cairo is awesome. There are others if Latakia is what you are looking for from GLP.

If you like Quiet Nights you will likely like Meridian. It's a damn good blend if you're into Balkans.

If you like rum, I actually prefer Navigator to Windjammer.

I’m surprised no one has yet suggested Westminster, an absolutely essential English blend. Delicious and smooth.
Embarcadero is an excellent Virginia-Oriental blend that can be had in 8oz tins and is worth stocking up on.
I would advise you to go with 8 2oz tins rather than 2 8oz tins. A tobacco you like today, you might burn out on tomorrow. If the idea is that this has to last you for a while, you'll appreciate having the variety.
Windjammer and Navigator are different beasts. I love them both. Yes, both have a mild dose of rum as a topping. That about ends the comparison
Maltese Falcon and Key Largo. If you chase nicotine, Gaslight.
Haddo's Delight is my favorite GLP blend that's currently in production. Ages beautifully, in case you want to have a few extra tins brought over, specifically to cellar-and-forget for the next decade or so...

Appreciate your passion! The Peterson pipe shop in Dublin doesn't even sell tobacco (probably because the prices would be a embarrassment). Unfortunately the problem isn't so much the EU but the Irish government. The taxation on tobacco is absolutely extortionate. The plan is to slowly eliminate tobacco use while making as much as possible from smokers in the meantime. A 50g tin of pipe tobacco is currently over 40 euro / 43 USD (no packaging art and the selection is abominable). No idea how much a pack of cigarettes is but its around 20 euro. Keep in mind, Irish salaries are a lot lower that US salaries, plus we have one of the highest cost of living in Europe. Germany manages to sell plenty of tobacco at relatively affordable prices, so it's absolutely possible under EU law.
All of this to say: pipe tobacco is technically available here but it's no wonder no one is buying it.

Would it be worth your while to get a cheap Ryanair flight over to Germany, stock up a bit, even post some back to yourself, then fly home?
