Hi folks,

Relatively new pipe smoker here. I live in a country with draconian tobacco taxes (honestly your mind would boggle) and a terrible selection. Due to this, my tobacco comes from friends and family bringing me bits when they visit from oversees.
(God bless them).

I've decided i'd like a couple 8oz GL Pease tins from my next visitors. I've never tried any Pease blends but, from what I gather, the quality is high enough that I don't need to fear adding them to my very small "cellar". I'm happy to buy a couple tubs without trying them first. Worst case, I have some quality leaf that I can become accustomed to enjoy over the next few years.

My question is, which two blends should I choose?

Here's an idea of what I like:

My top two blends I've tried are Early Morning Pipe and Solani Aged Burley Flake.

I also enjoy Nightcap however i'm less of a fan of My Mixture 965 (could it be the addition of cavendish?)

Any suggestions you good folks have would be appreciated.

Cheers

What the Peters and Sigmund are saying -- really this is the only case one should do this.

Honestly, something straightforward and inoffensive. An English with a strength of your choosing, Union Sq, and a Va/Per (I would determine by preferred cut - note that Pease and C&D 'flakes' are a lot more chunky than those finer EU made flakes

I'd go with Quiet Nights, and perhaps Maltese Falcon.

Please put your location in your Profile!

How: Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down.

Sometimes you win and sometimes not. I did the same. One blend I like but dont love. The other 8oz I got I sold for what I paid. So either way its a win win.

Like the moderator. I wish people would at least put their country. This is the internet and its a big world.

I feel the opposite. I usually feel like it was pointless to buy a smaller amount and should have just gone all in.
And if you end up hating the blend then what? You have 16oz of tobacco you dont like.

All I'm saying is sample first if you can, but in case of the OP he doesnt really have that option.
