Here in Chicagoland, it's been pretty dreary. Heavy rain off and on, with periods of light or no rain, but clouds all day; yet, it's a blessed day. My wonderful wife and I visited our oldest daughter and my two young and delightful grandchildren, then headed home. For the last week, I've had a cold that left me with a complete inability to smell anything at all for the first time in my life. I actually was a bit worried whether I'd be ever smell again. The last couple of days, I could smell again, but my pipe tasted like yesterday's ashtray. Upon returning home, I lit up one of my favorite early 80s James Upshall billiards with some Frog Morton's Cellar. Ahhhhh..... Delightful.
I turned on some bluegrass in the garage watching the gentle rain, when my phone rang. My best friend called to ask me to accompany him to this Wednesday's Cubs/Dodgers NLCS game at Wrigley Field. Time to celebrate. I gave my new Lasse Skovgaard sandblast freehand Dublin (thanks Foggymountain Bruce!) its maiden voyage with a bit of Marlin Flake and a bottle of Deschutes Obsidian Stout. A another slice of heaven. I am blessed!
